It’s extremely important to give your body the gift of detoxifying. This can be easily and enjoyably done with delicious drinks. With time, our body accumulates toxins from not only environmental substance such as smog, but also from our lack of responsibility for the food we feed it. I’m talking about all of those processed, man-made “foods,” frozen boxes to throw in the microwave, bags of oily, chemical-covered chips or alcohol from those fun nights out. Our bodies do so much for us even though we literally poison it. It works overtime to cleanse out the harmful substances we give it to keep us healthy and strong. It’s been doing this for you for decades. Isn’t it about time that we thank it and give it gifts in return? It will certainly appreciate it!

These recipes include a bit of everything – refreshing, tasty, spicy, warm and hearty. They are super simple and quick to make. Basically, you have no excuse to not detox.

Very Berry Lemonade

Blueberries, blackberries and raspberries (any berries!) are great antioxidants. Lemons have endless benefits and many surprising uses. Physically speaking, they are a powerful tool to cleanse and detoxify your body. They balance PH levels, aid digestion, regulate bowels, clear and smooth skin and can be used for weight loss. To make this lemonade, blend the following ingredients, add ice and enjoy:

  • 3 juiced lemons (include the fibers, they are good for your gut!)

  • 50g of blueberries

  • 50g of blackberries

  • 50g of raspberries

  • 3 tablespoons of raw unrefined sugar

  • 1.5 liters of water

Lemon Strawberry Smoothie

Again, we combine the powers of lemons and berries. This recipe is great for warm weather with the refreshing flavors of lemon and mint leaves combined with the sweetness of strawberries. Puree these ingredients in a blender:

  • 1 juiced lemon

  • 2 handfuls of organic strawberries

  • 5 to 7 mint leaves

  • 1 tablespoon of raw unrefined sugar or agave syrup (optional)

  • ½ cup of water

Cacao Ginger Shake

Ginger is a great antioxidant that promotes release of toxins through sweat, improves blood circulation and boosts your immune system. It flushes the body, aids digestion and burns fat so it’s great for those who are trying to lose weight as well. Add the following ingredients in a blender and mix until liquidized and slightly frothy:

  • 3 tablespoons of grated Ginger (add more or less for your personal spice preference)

  • 2 tablespoons of cacao powder

  • 2 cups of almond milk

  • 1 teaspoon of unrefined raw sugar or agave syrup (optional)

Mint, Mango and Spinach Smoothie

Spinach is great for our liver and aids in cleansing our body of toxins. Similarly, avocado helps our liver detoxify and does an amazing job at removing toxins from our body. Blend the following greens (and gold) for a delicious detox drink:

  • 3 handfuls of spinach

  • ½ of a diced avocado

  • 1 diced mango

  • 5-7 mint leaves

  • 1 cup of water

Ginseng, Ginger and Almond Tea

We already know how great ginger is, but ginseng is also amazing. This herb helps us by boosting the immune system and cleansing toxins from our body. Almonds remove impurities and toxic buildup found in our bowels. You’ll need the following ingredients for this tea treatment:

  • Ginseng tea bag (You can use your favorite brand of tea. I use YogiTea – it’s organic, it tastes delicious and the tea bags come with wisdom quotes that I love to reflect upon while drinking the tea.)

  • 1 teaspoon of finely shredded ginger

  • 1 cup of hot water (boil and then let cool for one minute as boiling can kill most beneficial factors in ingredients)

  • ½ cup of almond milk

  • 1 teaspoon of unrefined raw sugar (optional)
