What are your fitness goals and how are you going to look and feel when you reach them? One of the best kept secrets in the fitness community is the power of visualization for motivation. Although most visualization techniques are powered by the imagination, it doesn’t take a lot of creative effort to mentally envision your goals. Using a mirror during a workout session or emulating a person who resembles the shape of your healthy goals, can also be included in as a form of visualization for fitness motivation.

Be The Change

Gandhi knew the power of visualization for motivation and he even was quoted saying, “Be the change…”.

It is a common fact that people who reach their fitness goals without implementing regular visualization techniques are not prepared for their newly fit and fantastic bodies.

Reinforcing negative thought patterns around an athletically inspired body does not support long term fitness results. If you want to keep fit you need to keep your mind focused on goals and progress, rather than imperfections and shortcomings. The fastest way to achieve fitness success is to act like you are fit. That means flaunting your already fabulous body, flab or no flab.

Live In The Now

Whenever you are doing something, such as working out, don’t just congratulate yourself, concentrate on how this action is supporting your goals. How will you feel when you reach your fitness goals? How will you walk, sit, talk when you finally have that fit body?

Thinking about fitness goals while working out tends to influence the intensity and length of the workout. Most people who visualize during workouts report using extra effort due to the extra inspiration.

Feel your body transform into what you want. Represent your goals by acting out your progress during regular activities like sitting, standing or talking.

Eat Like A Champ

During meal preparations or when you find yourself eating a healthy meal think about how those healthy routines will help you achieve your fitness goals. How will you look when you are an athletic champion eating a healthy meal? How would you hold your utensils when your biceps are sculpted to perfection? Visualize yourself in action with the results you desire.

The more frequent you use visualizations during healthy meals, workouts and other positive activities that support your goals, the closer you will get to achieving the results you seek and the more motivated you will be to continue a healthy lifestyle.

Embrace The Challenge

Keep the frustration down low and the determination up high. Limit the amount of time you spend thinking about how challenging a healthy lifestyle is. Prevent yourself from getting caught up in the negative aspects of keeping fit, and focus on all the reasons why you desire a fit body. Stop concentrating on how long the fitness process takes and imagine yourself radiating with a successful healthy lifestyle.

The only obstacle in your way is keeping your mind focused on goals and less on the failures.

What Do You Want?

Record It

Don’t just visualize, actualize. Keep a daily log of your successes so you can monitor how well your visualization techniques are doing. This doesn’t mean measuring your body fat percentage, or jumping on the scale every day. Instead, record how many times you practiced visualizing your goals. Or take a picture of your healthiest meal and share it with your online fitness support community. Forget about what didn’t happen and pick out something that you are proud of each day.

You don’t need to write down everything that made you happy or motivated, just acknowledging your success is truly an amazing feat.

Keep At It

Tie a knot around your finger, or set an alarm on your clock for a reminder, but make sure to keep consistent with your visualizations. Using visualization techniques is one of the easiest ways to reach your goals. Make sure to practice this task regularly for best results.

The more often you use visualization techniques for fitness or healthy goals, the more motivation you will have to draw on to finally hit your fit body targets.
